Get Fit Challenge Week 3 Recap: A Weekend in L.A.

This week was a little difficult to stay on track with everything I had going on. We were staying with my in-laws, in addition to going out of town over the weekend. My eating got a little out of control from what I’ve been doing. I don’t feel bad about it because it was a special occasion, and I won’t be eating like that all the time. I am right back on track going into week 4.
I have not weighed myself, but I would say I have probably not lost any weight, and hopefully I have not gained any back.

Los Angeles was really fun. As soon as we got off the plane Friday night, we hit In N Out, which has become a ritual for us. The burgers are really good. Since it was midnight on Eastern time, drove around for a bit to take in the sites and then I crashed.

First thing Saturday, we got up and went to Kettleglaze Doughnuts. They sell these really amazing cruffins (croissant-muffins) that are covered in sugar glazing, and out of this world.

We had the intention to go to Runyon, which we always do. Since parking was a nightmare, we went to Griffith Observatory.

It sits at the top of LA so you have an amazing view of the city. After that, we headed to Santa Monica to grab food and check out the Pier. The weather was perfect, especially since we had left 30-degree temperatures in Atlanta. For lunch we had Sumo Dog. The first time we had their hot dogs was at Coachella last year, and it was burned in my brain from there. They have this amazing Kimchi dog made with Wagyu beef. It is delicious!

On Sunday, I got in one workout with my ClassPass. The studio is called Bunda, which means booty in Portuguese. The 50-minute workouts alternate between exercises on the StairMaster and floor work using weights, resistance bands, and a specialized floor set-up with sliders.

Think Barry’s BootCamp, but with StairMasters. I took their Sunday “Total Body” workout class. It was challenging for me, as I am not a StairMaster girl. However, the class flew by quickly and according to my Apple Watch, I burned about 600 calories. I wish they had a location in Atlanta, as it was definitely a class I would frequent, but for now it will be a go-to when I am in town. I highly recommend checking it out for yourself.

After class, we went to my cousins birthday brunch at Soul on Hollywood blvd. The food is amazing. This is coming from a Southern girl who is picky about her “Soul Food”. I also really enjoyed the biscuits and the gravy that came with them. The fried chicken and waffles rivals any place I’ve been to in the south. The shrimp and grits were perfectly cooked and creamy and amazing. They also have bottomless mimosas which we dived into 🙂

The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The whole vibe was nice and fun. The place is right on Hollywood Blvd, so it’s super easy to find and get parking, both on the street if you can, and paid. Highly recommend!

After brunch I headed to the airport for my flight home. All in all, it was a successful weekend trip, and it’s always a fun time.
